Packing for Bali in the rainy season

November to March is green, warm and wet. It rarely rains all day: mornings are often clear and the downpour comes in the afternoon. Pack for that, not for a monsoon.

The rainy season is when Bali is greenest, quietest outside the Christmas weeks, and often cheaper. What changes is the afternoon: a heavy shower, wet roads, and humidity that stops anything cotton from drying.

This list adds only what the rain changes. For the full one-bag list, see our Bali month guide.

What to leave at home

lighter already

skip:A big umbrella

Useless on a scooter and in the wind. A jacket and a poncho do more.

skip:Heavy hiking boots

They never dry. Trail shoes or sandals with grip.

skip:Jeans

Still true in the wet season. They will not dry until you are home.
